I crocheted my first hat last week. It was surprisingly easy and fun, and it kept me occupied while we took our daily walks around the front of our apartment. While we walked in circles, I crocheted, and the best part was that we stayed out longer because I wasn't so bored. Win/Win.
Other than walking outside aimlessly, Scarlett also loves...
- Identifying her belly-button and ears, and my nose, eyes, and hair. She hasn't quite figured out she has those, too.
- DOGS. She loves dogs more than anyone who has ever lived, and I don't think I am exaggerating. I wish I could capture the joy that bursts through her when she sees a dog. She is fearless around them and Jordan taught her how to bark. All day long she barks and points to the computer (Thank you, YouTube, for an endless supply of dog videos).
- Her teddy bear. Every night we go in and check on her before we go to bed and almost every night she is snuggling him.
- Goodnight Moon. Half way through reading other books, she hops off my lap and grabs it instead, as if to say, "These aren't doing it for me, Mom. Let's just go back to what works." I think it's because she likes to "moo" whenever she sees the cow.
-Dad's morning routine. After his shower, she grabs his towel for him, then she finds him a pair of socks and pulls them apart for him, then she sits in his lap while they eat their cereal, and then she sits in his lap while they both brush their teeth (or tooth in her case), then she grabs his shoes for him and sends him out the door.
- Dancing. But that's nothing new. We went to a dinner sponsored by the school and there was a dance floor. All the other kids were chasing each other and jumping and laughing and Scar was the littlest one, bobbing her head, bending her knees, straight-faced and serious about this dancing business. If her moves could talk, they would say, "Can't touch this."
Love your posts, Carly...and that stinking cute little girl of yours.
ReplyDeleteYour hat looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you made that hat? Whaaaat? I hope you will make one for my baby whenever I have one. Can I request a gray and yellow one? Also, Scarlett and dogs? That is so precious. I want to see her with a dog now.
ReplyDeleteThat hat is awesome! You should start selling them! I'd buy two :)
ReplyDeleteFirst off love that hat! You're little girl is precious, I love the morning routine with dad that is absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteOk remember when we were both at Lacey's one day learning some crocheting. You are AMAZING! I am still on step 1 and haven't picked up much and look at that adorable hat! I love it. By the way, I think Ella and Scarlett are both dog lovers. When I read what you said about her loving dogs I thought of Ella's dog obsession. We should get them together again. This post is great. I love hearing about what she's getting into. She's such a beautiful little girl.
ReplyDeleteSo...I just spent a bunch of money buying owl hats JUST LIKE THAT...only probably a little less cute. I can't believe you can crochet AND WALK at the same time! YOU GO GIRL! And I love your updates.
ReplyDeleteHow cute!! Did you use a tutorial on line? I've never tried crocheting but a hat that cute would make it worth learning!
