18 weeks.

I am really bad at taking pictures of this belly of mine. The change is so gradual that it's hard to get motivated to document it. But here it is! All 18 weeks of it!

Why is the lighting in my apartment so yellow?

I have gained 8 pounds and the baby is the size of my open hand. I am starting to feel some little flutters and teeny tiny punches. It is such a sweet feeling. I am excited for those to become a more regular thing.

Biggest change this week: My doctor told me that now is the time to stop lying on my back because the uterus is heavy enough to stop blood flow in that position. For those who know me well though, this has been horrible. I love lying down. All the time. If I am watching TV, I am on my back. If I am writing a paper (or doing anything on my laptop for that matter), I am on my back. If I am sleeping, I am on my back. I even eat lying down sometimes. Oh well... my back and I had a good run. We shall reunite again in 4 or 5 months.

  6. My doc told me that you will start to feel sick and want to pass out before you do any damage to your baby by lying on your back - I'd wake up in a panic every morning that I'd unconsciously rolled onto my back. Seems to be true, since I slept on my back a lot until I was like 8 months pregnant with Caleb. He turned out alright...didn't he?!

  7. That is the weirdest advice I have ever heard. Trust me. You'll know when you shouldn't be lying on your back because...drum roll...you won't want to anymore because it will be uncomfortable. Don't sweat it!!
