Either that or it was named after his son John Kirk who apparently killed two deer with a single bullet.
About the School:
A.T. Still University was founded in 1892 and was the first College of Osteopathic Medicine. It is a renowned medical school and a leader in the multidisciplinary medicine centered on whole person care.
Cultural Attractions
"The Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival in the fall draws national artisans, and includes entertainment, children's activities and dance revues. Art showings, summer concerts, music festivals, poetry readings, and an occasional dinner theater add to the entertainment venue in Kirksville. The Farmers Market offers fresh produce and locally grown items every Saturday morning May-October."
"The Historical Museum is filled with many artifacts including several pioneer items, Native American relics and arrowheads, and collections of military objects, including the cannonball that struck the courthouse in 1862 during the Battle of Kirksville."

Things we are looking forward to:
* The medical school happens to have the most LDS med students and most married students of any other osteopathic school. 7% of the Kirksville population is LDS and the city houses two wards.
* Med students and their families get memberships to the recreation center for FREE.
* The cost of living is incredibly cheap
* No more Provo traffic! In the early evening, the stop lights turn off and turn into four-way stops.
* We will live only 99 miles from Nauvoo, IL and 200 miles from St. Louis.
* We have always wanted to live in a small town for at least a little while. This is our real life Stars Hollow.
