Sylvia is One

Sylvia just turned one. My mind is blown. I had no idea that my heart could grow ten sizes and make room for another little girl. She is so animated and joyful. I have failed to update her growth over the last few months, so here are some things about Sylvia. She started feeding herself finger foods at five months old. She LOVED food and still can't get enough of it. She used to pat her tray or my chest when she wanted more food or to nurse. She has always been a very good communicator and knows exactly what she wants. For whatever reason though, I am cursed with early risers and short nappers. From five months old till very recently, she was up for the day at five every morning and only took two 30 minute naps. Torture. During this time she was completely obsessed with me, but she has since transferred her affection to dad. She also thinks Scarlett is fabulous.
Nine months old was a big month for her. She took her first steps and was fully walking by ten months--again, just to torture me. She started saying "Mama" and "Dada" and "Nana" (nurse night night) and she knew exactly what and whom she was talking about. She even started calling the kitty to herself making a kiss sound like I do. She also weaned herself from the pacifier that month. Bless her.
At 11 months old she refused to let me spoon feed her morning oatmeal and insisted on feeding herself. Even on her first birthday she wanted to eat her cake with a spoon. She started sleeping in till six and taking two 60 minute naps, so that was a welcome change. Scarlett changed to this schedule around the same age. We must have weird sleep genes.
Now, at 12 months old, she gets into everything. The toilet paper and cat food are her favorites. She loves music and spins in circles every time she hears a song. She gives Scarlett a huge hug when she sees her in the morning, and whenever Scarlett is laying on the floor, Sylvi HAS to go over and sit on her chest. They are already becoming best friends. My favorite thing is when she gets right in my face and whispers "Hi." I cannot imagine life without my little Silver, or as Scarlett would say, "my chubby, chubby." It has been a good year, baby girl.
