Sylvia Noel is Four

I think age three might be my favorite. Sylvia has been such a joy this year. She is so obedient and thoughtful and wants nothing more than to please us. She loves play-dates, but relishes in her alone time. I need to get a good video of her sprinting because her legs turn over so quickly and her face looks so determined. She definitely has an inner athlete. She has an edgy tomboy side, but is also always wearing dress-up clothes and loves dancing to "ballet music." You know exactly how she is feeling because she has the most expressive eyes that peak out from under her iconic bangs. She loves our pets (and other people's pets) more than anyone. Her dad had to stitch her up for the second time in her short life this year, and she makes me laugh out loud everyday. I love you, Sylvia Noel. Here is to another delightful year.

(Sometimes I have the date written down, sometimes I don't, and some of these are just things she says or used to say in general. It is long, but I promise it'll be worth it.)

She used to say, "That kitty wants me so bad" instead of "I want that kitty so bad."

December 15
Sylvia's current favorite songs:
1: Jeengie bells all away
2: Rain, rain go away, come a day another time.

Calls everyone dar-wing = darling

Dec 18
Sylvia: "I want that show with the octopus and the boat and the hat and the kitty is a pirate." I had no idea what she was talking about until scrolling through Netflix one day and sure enough--Octonauts. She nailed it.

"Let's play Spy a Y" = Eye Spy

February 8
One pant leg was stuck inside the other and try as she might, Sylvia couldn't pull her pants up. She threw them down and said, "MOM! I am trying to use my awesome arms to get my pants on and I just can't!"

February 8
She loves making up names and people.
"Juke is one, and Bong is five and Booba the magic one is six. And they live on Booka Booka."

January 23
"Eenie minie moe, check a tiger toe, eenie minie my mother said to pick best friends eenie minie moe."

March 8
Me: "Do you want to go feed the ducks?"
Sylvia: "Bread?"
Me: "No. Peter's mommy has bird food."
Sylvia: "Ducks are birds? But they can't fly."
Me: "Yes they can. How do you think they got to the pond?"
Sylvia: "A boat."

March 16
We were on the phone with Grandma Patti a few days ago and she told Sylvia, "I love you so much. I am going to keep you forever!" Sylvia looked at me with the biggest smile and most joy and said, "Oh Mommy! Grandma Patti wants me forever! Let's move to Grandma's house." This morning I told her that I loved her so much that I was going to keep her forever and she said, "OK. You can visit me at Grandma's house."

Consta = concert

Broom consta = Hot air balloon festival or balloon concert. That took forever to figure out.

March 28
"Mommy I love you so much. You are the BESTEST mommy. I want to give you a medal. A sparkly medal!! A RAINBOW sparkly medal!"

March 29
While watching the live Pete's Dragon, Sylvia said, "Oh mommy! I LOVE dragons! Let's go to the store and buy a cute, little, baby dragon to have at ours house."

She always wants me to cut her apple directly in half and she calls it cutting the apple "like a dress."

Simy Simes = Simon Says

May 8
Whenever I do something that makes her sad or ask her to do something she doesn't want to do she says, "Mom. You breakin' my heart."

"I love you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so (she says "so" more times than this) much more-er."

May 26
Sylvia: "When the ground breaks, the dogs will be under there."
Me: "Under where? What dogs?"
Sylvia: "And the moms say what is on this roof?"
Me: ????

May 29
"Them boys doesn't listen to my words!"

May 30
During prayer, "Thank thee that we can play in the middle of the night."

June 8
"I can hear my gecko!" = echo

June 8
*At donut store*
Jordan: "Sylvia, let me check the back of your neck for ticks."
Sylvia: "Oh, check my butt crack too!" *pulling down pants*

June 9
Prayer: "Thank thee that we don't have a cough or sneeze or hiccups"

I made enough cookies for each member of our family to have two cookies. When I walked over to the pan there was one less cookie then there should have been. I asked Sylvia if she ate one and she said no. I asked Scarlet if she did, she said no. I finally found Jordan and asked if he had it and he said he did and Sylvia said, "Oh good. I was worried I ate it."

Scarlett: "Was Doris Day alive when you were little?"
Me: "She was actually alive when MY mom was a little. And she is still alive. She's 95 or something"
Sylvia: "Oh. She must've ate a bad strawberry in the grass."

I showed Sylvia a picture of my nephew's new baby and she said, "Mom can you get married again so you can have another baby?"

Out of no where: "Hey Dad. Maybe you could start calling mom Honey Bunny."

With the sternest look on her face after Scarlett did something she didn't like, Scarlett started laughing and Sylvia said, "Does mine face look happy or mad?"

"Sarah! I am mad at you! I am yelling at you a lot of times!"

She thinks windy means nauseated because when we are on a winding road she feels sick. "Mom. I feel so windy."

Dessert = Bazert

"Mooom. I'm so tired. I stayed up too early."

She loves the gooey blue goo in the book 'Fox in Socks." She is always asking if we can buy it and eat it.

July 26
"Mommy I miss my Ethan (her cousin). Can we go to my grandma's house every day a little bit and bring the kitty?"

"I had a dream last night that we went to the circus when I was two and it was just wonderful."

When eating something delicious, she pounds on the table and screams, "I just can't stop eating this!"

August 7
After my mom sent the girls their very own pretty necklaces, Sylvia grabbed the necklace from around her neck and kissed it and said, "Thank you Grandma. Miss Grandma Patti is so nice. Can we go on a plane all day today to go to there?"

Someone did something mean and she said, "Do you want a smack?" (I promise I have never threatened that.)

"Moooooom my tum tum hurts."
"Are my pants still in the dishwasher?"

While at the park:
Sylvia: "Mom I have to poop."
Mom: "Uh oh, honey. Can you wait?"
Sylvia: (Pondering for a moment) "Mmm... yeah I have stopper muscles. See? Look. (Points her butt at me) I'm not poopin'."

Sylv: "Mom! I did Scarlett's chore for her because her hurt her leg!"

Me: "Yay! That was so nice, thank you!"
Sylv: "Are you going to keep me and Scarlett now?"

August 25
"I have such cute news! The kitty is asleep on my bed! Isn't that the cutest news?"

Me: "Will you let the kitty in?"
Sylvi: "Yes. I will never let her down."

"Mom if we got in a car accident and I wasn't wearing a seat-belt I would die. Your favorite kid would die."

She is always talking about being fabulous.

"I am going to drive so fast when I can drive all by mine self."

"Are babies born with clothes on?"

"If we cut down a tree with the baby bird in it, the hawk would come and peck us and pick the skin off our bones."

We were at the doctor's office for Sylvia and we were scheduling a well-check for Scarlett who wasn't there and the receptionist was asking what a good date and time would be for Scarlett to come in and Sylvia said, "Wait. You know about Scarlett??"

"Hey mom. How about today we will go home, watch one show, we will read our books, we will throw up in the bowl, and then we'll go to Chick-fil-A." Can you tell we had just had a stomach-bug?

September 6
Me: "Hey Sylvia. One of our friends is sick today. We should bring her something to help her feel better, what should we bring?"
Sylvia: "Not cat food."

September 24
I had some seriously heavy bleeding and cramping at 11 weeks pregnant and we thought for sure I was miscarrying. I explained to the girls what this meant and that sometimes this happens. Sylvia asked if we could say a prayer so we knelt down and she said, "Dear the Father, Thank thee that the baby is still alive, thank thee that the baby is so tiny and cute, thank thee that she is such a cute baby sister." Sure enough, the baby was fine and it's a girl!

October 2
Sylvia had a fever and was feeling really sick and I asked her what she wanted for breakfast and she said, “I don’t know. When you’re sick it’s hard to know anything.”

October 27
"Mom. I love you the most. And dad the most. And Scarlett and Sarah and the candy."

We can partially see a nuclear power plant from our house and one day it was chilly and we could really see the steam and she pointed at it and said, "Oooooh so that’s where clouds come from!"

November 18
On her birthday she ran up to me and said, "Am I four now?" and I said yes and she said, "I knew it! Look how long my legs are!" Later that day we were driving home and she said, "Mom. I'm afraid I am still three because my shoes still fit."

She asked me to add this picture of her gorilla whom she lovingly named "Black George." I said I was posting only pictures of her to which she replied, "Mom. He is apart of me."
