Those last couple posts were kind of deep...maybe that boyfriend was right, I do think a little too deeply sometimes. So here are some not so deep slash funny slash strange slash heart-happy stories that happened in the last 24 hours:
I hurt my back last week. Like really, really badly. I think it might be my NINETEEN pound six-month-old who wants to be held all the time. It got bad enough that I couldn't move. I couldn't pick her up or put pants on. Seriously, it started getting better and when I went to put pants on, it debilitated me for another three days. I finally went to the doctor to make sure it wasn't serious and he did a series of osteopathic manipulative treatments. This OMM is the biggest thing that sets DOs apart from MDs. They learn the exact same thing as MDs. but they are also trained to make sure all the bones and muscles in your body are aligned. Sometimes the source of a problem isn't where the pain is. Doctors are known to just throw a prescription or antibiotic at you when you are in pain or sick, but these OMM treatments are like magic. The body is its own pharmacy, but it can't do its job if things aren't aligned. My back was weakened and injured because my right hip was higher than my left, probably from the pregnancy. That was causing overcompensation and tension in my bum muscles which in turn was causing stiffness and pain up the right side of my back. He straightened my hips, loosened my piriformis (bum muscle), waved a magic wand (not really) and no joke, I feel better than I did before I hurt my back. I could not move before, people! I have a sink full of dishes to prove it (HAD. I'll get to that). I feel fantastic now. The weirdest one was when he pushed on the right side of my stomach and said, "I assume that hurts," and it did. He lifted my legs and turned my back a certain way, pushed again and the pain was gone. My back was making my stomach hurt. So weird. Put things back in their God-given order and you have yourself a miracle, friends.
Back to the dirty dishes. It was bad. We're talking three dishwashers full, honey on the countertops, I want to hire outside help, bad. We had company for dinner the night I put my pants on so there were tons more dishes and pots and pans than usual. Jordan has been studying non-stop for finals so couple that with me not moving and the dishes got out of control. I almost wanted to fake like my back was still hurt because it was so overwhelming. But I came home from a friend's house today, ready to tackle it and it was done. Jordan had an hour break during the middle of his EIGHT HOUR test and he spent that time cleaning the kitchen. I am having so many happy thoughts right now, all I need is to find the second star to the right and straight on till morning.
I love that last line, I love you bigtime, I love Jordan for doing all those dishes (and he must REALLY love you to do them!), and I wish I could find an OMM expert around here.
