I learned today that the phrase is "put it in layman's terms" NOT "Lamen's terms." All this time I thought that some guy named Lamen was really dumb so we needed to put it in his terms.
This isn't the first time I've misheard something and didn't question it or figure it out for years. For the majority of my childhood, while singing "I Am A Child of God," instead of "teach me all that I must do" I though it was "teach me all that I'm a stew."
Another time during the song, "Love One Another" when it says, "by this shall men know," I always thought to myself, "what the heck is a shallmeno?" I assumed it was a synonym for something that made sense.
Say "point and case" and "rock's throw away" all you want, Jordan. We all mix up our phrases.

Oh my goodness. I laughed out loud multiple times while reading this... mostly because I can just hear you say those things and laughing at yourself, and it makes me miss you bad!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hate to correct you again, but it's actually "layman's terms." A layman is a common individual. But "lame man" works too! :) For the longest time, I actually thought it was Laman, like from the Book of Mormon. I was like, "How does everyone know about him?!" And then I learned, so I thought I'd pass on the knowledge. :)

Seriously? See my teacher said today "Lame man" so I assumed he was right and I was wrong! Ha! We were both wrong.
