Our Wedding To Be

I spent the better part of my Tuesday evening ripping my hair out over wedding stuff because I couldn't get "the feeling." You know, the feeling that comes when you've found something that absolutely personifies YOU? I loved my selections. Everything I envisioned was so elegant and beautiful, but I wasn't getting the feeling. In desperation, I called my sister and asked if she could do her wedding all over again, what would she do? She then proceeded to tell me about a quaint, picturesque, french country wedding. I caught the vision and that feeling settled in.

I want a cozy, charming, rustic, french, Jane-Austen-feeling, wedding. I want my guests to come into my backyard with my big, yellow house as the backdrop. I want people to take off their shoes, indulge in food and sweets, and celebrate with me and my Jordan.

We're talkin' burlap table runners, raffia bows, jars as vases, and white roses interspersed with soft colored wild flowers. Little candles, string pearls, and lace accents. I want it to look like someone blew a kiss on everything.

One of my favorite ideas is haystack seats. I don't know that I'd put them around every table, but they would be strewn about the lawn as extra seating.

I absolutely fell in love with this idea. Instead of a guest book, guests will sign a cloth square and hang it on a clothes line. It becomes apart of the decoration and later I would sew the squares into a quilt!

I want to hang letters on clothes pins that spell out "Richardson" above the dessert table which will sit on the upper deck. It will have homemade cookies and cupcakes surrounding my simple, but beautiful wedding cake. I also want a "Candy Bar." People can take a brown paper bag, stuff it with assorted sweets from the Candy Bar, tie it off with some raffia, and take it as their wedding favor. The candy will match the wedding theme and be displayed in jars or rustic wooden boxes.

I am in heaven. Now that I've captured the feeling, I can't wait to get started!

  1. carly this is awesome! You have definitely caught a beautiful vision. Seriously, the best part about my wedding was that it was laid back and not so formal. People stayed the whole time! I love your ideas. It makes me want to do it all over again.
