Sarah Kate is Five

Sarah is so sweet and demure and tender, but also so funny and pretty and smart that I would have wanted to be her best friend as a kid. She is soooo go-with-the-flow, doesn't make waves, just watches the other girls rip each others' heads off and waits till they are ready to start playing again. She has the BEST laugh. It sounds a little like Peewee Herman and Kermit the Frog, and you have to really earn a laugh from her. She is always saying I love you in sign language with both hands and you have to respond with both hands or she she gets very offended.

August 14

"Patty-cake, Patty cake, make a man."

"If I saw a tiger shark, I would punch him and stomp on him" 

October 25

Sarah: My Brain is right here (pointing to her stomach).

Mom: No, that’s your stomach.

Sarah: But this is where my lab is. 

October 29

"Dad was the first one to come out of Mom’s belly." 

Sarah: How do you say yesterday at night again?

Mom: You mean last night?

Sarah: Yes! 

November 29 

Mom: Can you grab my coat for me?

Sarah: Ugh. Only because I love you. 

February 6

Sarah: Can we play with toys in our beds?

Mom: No, but you can talk quietly. 

Sarah: Can we talk quietly about toys in our beds?

February 11

Mom: Can you stay four forever? 

Sarah: Only if I stay awake. 

Jordan: If you bite me, Cat, I'll break your neck.

Sarah: Ooo. If we break her neck, we can get a parrot?

February 15

After watching Tangled she said, "They got in-loved." 

March 2 

I showed her a picture of a pretty bird and she said, "What world is that in?"

"Can bunnies swim?"

We were talking about how I let Sarah on a playground for a few minutes during the pandemic when our city was still pretty closed down.

Mom: I bet the virus wasn’t there. 

Sarah: Yeah, I didn’t see any dead bodies. 

June 2

"Mom is the first prettiest, I am the second prettiest, and grandma is the third prettiest."

July 22

"Can I have a foon-spool of peanut butter?"
