Sylvia is Two

Oh my Sylvia. If anyone wants proof that we were spirits before we came to earth, look at Scarlett and Sylvia. They couldn't be any more different, but they have been raised the same. Her spirit is so feisty, but sweet. Crazy, but caring. If you have ever heard any stories about the insanely frustrating things two-year-olds can do, Sylvia has done them all. One minute she is spilling her milk so she can smear it all over the table and lap it up like a dog, and the next she is snuggling up next to Scarlett just because she loves her. Then she pulls her hair and pokes the baby's eyes and dances on the books she pulled off the shelves, so you never know what is going to happen with this chick. She is a climber and has always been very strong and stable on her feet. Her threshold for pain is very high and she isn't afraid of anything. She is my free-spirit and I love her dearly, when I am not begging her to stop doing something naughty.

Here are some sweet things she says and does and loves and some pictures from the last year.

She is obsessed with cows.

She is always growling like a dinosaur.

She grunts when she bends over because when I was super pregnant I would grunt when I bent over.

She has to play with her belly button while she tries to fall asleep. She refuses to wear any one-piece pajamas because she can't access her belly-button.

She has to be doing whatever Scarlett is doing and she knows exactly how to push Scar's buttons. Then she laughs an evil laugh when she has succeeded.

No matter how much I brush it or smooth it down, she always has a rat's nest on the back of her head.

I joke that its like the Tower of Babel around here because I can never understand what she is saying, but here are a few translations.

Hungry = Hungee

Grandma = Gwah-gwum

Yucky = Guawcky

Spider = By-doo

Thank you = Guh-hmm or Daints

For awhile she didn't say yes,  just "Sure." And now she just says "Mmm-hmm."

She would proclaim the most pititful "Whhhyyyyyyyyy?" about everything, even if it didn't make sense.
For example:
"Here Sylv, do you want this toy?"
"Whhyyyyyyyyy?!"

She says "Good girl" whenever I give her something she wants.

She loves showers. I can probably count on one hand how many times I have taken a shower by myself since she was born.

She thinks every hair she finds is a spider web.

Whenever the baby is having tummy time she says, "She swimmin'!"

She has always loved baby dolls, so having a real baby in the house is her favorite thing. She loves Sarah so much that she often loves her too hard, but I'm sure Sarah will start loving her too hard in return when she gets older.

She swiped a donation cup at the store and I didn't notice till we were in the parking lot.
She hung out on this stair all summer. She just loved floating there.

This is a common sight. Look. No remorse.

She had to get her lip stitched when she pulled a stool on top of herself.
