The Wednesday before Labor Day weekend, Jordan came home early and said the doctor who he was rotating with gave him the rest of the week off. That was five full days with the following Monday being a holiday. Of course we were ecstatic and wanted to do something special (otherwise we knew we would spend five full days sitting on the couch, catching up on our favorite shows, and eating Oreos). We thought about first exploring Michigan since we haven't really done that, then we thought a little bigger and considered visiting friends who live near Philadelphia and touring there. And then we thought even BIGGER and decided to invite ourselves over to Jordan's uncle's house in Washington DC! Before we knew it, we were making a very short notice call to his gracious aunt and uncle and making the ten hour, impromptu trip to our great nation's capitol. We spent two full days seeing the sites and memorials and museums and testing the limits of my pregnant body. Everything went without a hitch and we are so happy we did it. Our friends, Dan and Kassidy, who we were planning on visiting in Philly, joined us on one of our touring days and then they hosted us on our way back home. It was so good to see them. Scarlett still talks about "Sassy-Dan" every day and it has been almost three weeks.
