Comings and Goings

We put 4,000 miles on our car this summer. That's a lot of driving for a baby who hates the car, but to her surprise, she didn't die. This is what we were up to the last six weeks.

Colorado:
Scarlett and I spent two weeks in Colorado while Jordan did his preceptorship. It was a little tough because she was extremely stranger wary for most of our time there. She wouldn't even let me put her down the first week, and with no Jordan to take some of the edge off, it was kind of really super exhausting. But we were well-fed, had some quality family time, and I got to paint my parents' basement with my nieces and nephews.

Utah:
The time in Colorado warmed Scarlett up to new people and new places and she was a champion in Utah. We discovered she's happiest in a room full of people. That girl does NOT like being alone. Some highlights include:

Johnny Carino's. Scar was in SUCH a good mood there and she learned to drink from a straw.

Swimming
Bear Lake:
It was nice to get away to Jordan's family cabin. Things move slower there. My man and I rode an ATV all over the mountainside at sunset and got some much needed alone time. We splashed in the lake and played lots of card games. Our biggest adventure was getting to church on Sunday. Scarlett had some... bowel issues. She had a blow-out on our way, so there we were, on the side of the road in Logan canyon, in our Sunday clothes, wiping down a naked a baby. We got her in a back-up dress (I felt so prepared) and went on our way. Then it happened AGAIN. Alas, I did not bring two back-up dresses. The poor little thing had the runs the entire week.

Back to Colorado:
We had a family reunion with just my siblings, their spouses and kids and there are 60 of us. My parents have left quite the legacy. We had more fun than pictures, but trust me. It was awesome.

Later in the week we went to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and then to the Garden of the Gods. We are so pumped for the Olympics now.

Look at that determination
We've always called her our baby champion.

It was a wonderful trip, but we're happy to be home. Oh and our apartment flooded while we were gone, but nothing was damaged and things are good. A little muggy smelling, but good.

  1. It was so fun to see you! I'm glad that nothing was damaged in your apartment--I wondered what had happened with that! Look at you being all out-doorsy in a skirt! WHew!

  2. I love the bob sled prop. They have one in Toronto and I frequently jump in for some fun imaginary sledding.
