I've been thinking lately about my world--from the spiritual to intellectual to physical to emotional, and even to the virtual--and I have concluded that I love simplicity. I am never satisfied with anything that is more than simple. My wardrobe is simple (and currently sparse). It isn't trendy nor is it out of style. My decorating is the same. I want it to be timeless and simple so that I can leave it alone for years. I have a simple diet of vegetable beef soup and cheesebread, which have been my staples since I was three. My scriptures are on my nightstand as a simple reminder and currently I have only two frames on my walls, one of the Savior holding a little girl and the other of our marriage certificate. My diaper bag is my old college book bag and my cell phone can only make phone calls. Most importantly, my days simply consist of snuggling a baby who is currently sleeping on my chest. But simple doesn't mean easy. I still believe in challenging myself and trials will always come, but I like my life to be uncluttered and unclouded by unimportant things. So, in the spirit of simplicity, I have themed my world after this song, and I think it is simply me:

Give Me The SImple Life

Folks are blessed to make the best of everyday,
Living by their own philosophy.
Everyone beneath the sun must find a way,
And I have found the only way for me.

I don't believe in frettin' and grievin';
Why mess around with strife?
I never was cut out to step and strut out,
Give me the simple life.

Some find it pleasant dining on pheasant,
Those things role off my knife.
Just serve me tomatoes and mashed potatoes,
Give me the simple life.

A cottage small is all I'm after,
Not one that's spacious and wide.
A house that rings with joy and laughter
With the ones you love inside.

Some like the high road, I like the low road,
Free from the care and strife.
Sounds corny and seedy, but yes, indeed-y,
Give me the simple life.

-As sung by Steve Tyrell
