Decorator's Block.

One of the first projects I undertook was the TV stand. After replacing the drawer bottoms and turning the top two drawers into drop-down hinges, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I sanded that puppy down, re-stained the top, and then I painted the base blue. And now...I'm stuck.

The blue is a bit brighter in person. It has more green in it, but definitely some gray, too. I tried messing with my camera settings and editing it to make it look right, but this is as close as I could get. It's a very pretty blue and a great splash of color, but now I am totally second guessing myself. I have been living with it this way for a few weeks now, trying to decide if I should re-paint it a neutral cream or if it needs distressed, and don't even get me started on the handles. I have looked at every knob and pull in the world and I can't decide. The hardest part was the sanding and staining. Painting only takes half a day so I'm not scared to try a different color. But I have now over-thought it and I can't go back. I need a fresh pair of eyes. What would you do?

  1. First get something to eat...then...
Put the original knobs back on and see how you like it. Don't change the color! Paint it in a few years as your style will have changed by then. With the original knobs on you will get a feel for what you actually do want. , or who knows you may actually like it and keep it that way. That has actually happened to me a couple of times.
Then repeat this in your head..."It doesn't matter...not enough to stress over it anyway. I'm the only one who cares...no one else really does."

  2. K..I just looked at the knobs again. Can you put the pulls back on with out the little fluer thing on the back? Then maybe just spray them a different color. Vintage bronze?

  3. I agree with, Buff. You should spray the old handles a different color. But i really like the color of the blue.

  4. I love it. But I agree, change the knob colors.

Your projects are amazing by the way. I love them all and wish that I had at least a tiny bit of your creative juices, because I have none and as a result, my house will always be boring unless someone comes and decorates for me. Consider it a huge blessing!
