We moved! We are in Kirksville, Missouri and we are already falling in love with this little town. It is just precious and we are really settling in. Both of us keep getting good feelings confirming to us that this is where we are supposed to be. I can't wait to document everything that is coming up in this quirky, charming town.

We have only been here five days and we have already accomplished so much. I don't know what I would have done if my mom hadn't come to help us move in! We love our little apartment, but with every place comes a tremendous lack of storage. I got rid of everything we don't use or need before we moved and we still don't have enough places to put our stuff. Thank goodness for my mom's help, Jordan's handy-man skills, and my sense of organization. We have bins hidden in all kinds of places. We also didn't have anywhere to put food because our cabinets barely fit our dishes, so Jordan made us this guy:

We are quite proud of this project. It is perfect for our needs and added some extra counter space! I added a curtain because heaven knows it won't stay that organized and soon enough there will be little fingers trying to pull everything down!

The only furniture we brought with us was our couch and our bed so when we got here we went on a serious furniture hunt. We needed a dining table and a bookcase and some sort of TV stand. I have been in a weird mood lately where I refuse to spend money on things that I don't love and that are not going to last forever (...or at least for the next eight years). Everything that is quality is WAY out of our price range, and even the midrange pieces are not worth buying. We have also been really picky about what we are willing to live with. For example, we want a TV stand that has a lot of storage and can be completely closed up (again because of the impending little fingers). After searching for hours online and going to at least a dozen stores, we found this little beauty.

I know what you are thinking: "That's a dresser, not an entertainment center. And I thought you said you were being picky, Carly. That is old and missing a knob." Let me explain. I found this baby on craigslist for 30 bucks. It is solid wood and insanely sturdy. It was way gross when we got it so we cleaned it up, replaced the drawer bottoms because they were warped, and turned the top two drawers into permanent compartments by making doors with drop-down hinges.

How sweet is that? I am super excited to refinish it and paint it and distress it and love it. We also found a beautiful dinette set but we are waiting for it to arrive. We are still on a bookcase hunt that will meet our choosy specifications, but I've learned that if you are willing to put in the time and maybe some extra work, you can get exactly what you want!
